Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board (2024)

The Veterinary Board protects the health, safety and welfare of the general public, as well as the welfare of animals, by enforcing the licensing standards prescribed by statute for the licensing and regulation of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, veterinary premises and animal crematories.

Licensure by Universal Recognition

On August 27, 2019 the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board began to acceptapplications for licensure by universal recognition.

The universal recognition policy allows Arizona residents to use an out-of-state professional or occupational license to qualify for an Arizona license to work. To qualify, an applicant must:

-Prove residency in Arizona.

-Be currently licensed or certified for at leastone yearin another U.S. state in the discipline applied for and at the same level of practiceas recognized in Arizona.

-Be in good standing in all states where currently or previously licensed or certified.

-Have met allapplicableeducation, work,exam,and/or clinical supervisionrequirementsin the other state where originally licensed or certified.

-Take and pass the Arizona State exam (veterinary or CVT).

-Pay all applicable fees to theArizona Veterinary Medical Examining Board
