Ugh. I never knew they did glow in the dark rounds?? Did they do any other colors and when did these come out?
Pretty sure it was spring 1986. Other than glow-in-the-dark, I think just the standard BMX colors back then... black, blue, red, & yellow. I was working at the bike shop when these came in. I was breaking down the shipments and pricing and stocking the items when two pairs of these rolled in. I immediately snatched these up for myself, leaving the other pair for the sales floor. They didn't last the day. And I never saw another pair.
It's a poor dealer that can't win.
Yeah, these must've been a very limited run because I don't even remember seeing them back then let alone in the years since. Pretty cool though. Wish they'd do them again.

Re: A'ME now offering longer Tri style grips
Looks like they have added some florescent color options to the Unitron line of grips as well?
Red over yellow at the top does not work on the website for me, but if you Google it you can see what those look like.

The Cams have been available for years with the 70s lower case font. Nothing new there. I have seen numerous pairs online with people asking $200 for a pair of $15 grips. Tri's and Rounds were bubble, double bubble and then stick font until quite recently.

Pretty cool! Sure do look long. Maybe better for new school bars? Do they eat up a lotta space for mounting brake levers?
Geez I love tri’s.
Sure love a nice set of Unis though. 😃

Re: A'ME now offering longer Tri style grips
From their website it appears the new ones are about 1" longer than the original Tri grips. The smaller flange on the new ones makes them look wider than what the numbers say.
Hand area length - 4.29" on the original Tri grips
Hand area length - 5.31" on the new longer Tri grips.
I have some new S&M Logo grips here, and the hand length on those is about 5.25" or so for reference. Think of the new longer option Tri grips as now being up to speed with what most other grips have been sized at for awhile now basically.

I grew up to be a big guy and I do prefer the long grips now. I still have pair of Oakley O-Wings laying around, and the aforementioned glow-in-the-dark A'MEs on my vintage Proline. But the bikes that I actually ride have ODI Longnecks.
